The Giant African Tree: The Akpu Tree

The Akpu Tree is a tree in Africa; it is a giant tree that grows bigger than other trees around. While I grew up in my hometown, I have always known that Akpu Tree grows large and big and spreads forth it branches far and wide to cover a large piece of land. When I was young, I had failed to understand why this tree is called the Akpu Tree by my people. Anyway, I want to take you through this wonderful giant tree: The Akpu Tree.
This tree is big and grows taller than other trees around it. It lasts for long and is the source of good furniture and wood. While on a visit to my cousin’s house in Enugu Ezike, Nigeria, I saw the biggest and tallest tree have seen in my entire life. This tree is situated in the slightly advanced town of Ogrute, Enugu Ezike. It is an Akpu Tree. Although I know that the Akpu Tree grows big and tall, I had never seen any tree as big as that.
I asked my cousin and his children and discovered that they know little about the tree. According to legends, this tree had been existence since before the war: Biafran War, and this tree saved the thousands of people who would have been killed by the soldiers. It has survived since time immemorial and it kills anyone who tries to harm it.
My further inquiry led me to know that many of the villagers would be happy if the tree would be cut down. I recoiled at that statement. I mean that this is an ancient of days standing right there and many people want it to be cut down because of the EVIL WORKS OF THE TREE. What nonsense?
My people will always believe in evil works, witches, devil, Satan and so on. The tree should not be cut. My concern is that it is the largest tree I have ever seen. It is around the height of twenty-storey building and as fat as a big mansion. With these pictures you can see the man on blue standing beside it, he is so tiny compared to the largeness of the tree. The tree is older than most of the town dwellers.
