We Need To Do Something Now

For unto every one who hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath (KJV, Mathew Chapter 25, Verse 29)
If you are a Christian or you are not, but you have heard of the story of the temptation of Jesus Christ, then you suppose to know that the devil himself can quote bible than any Christian can do. I picked this above verse from the bible, because I am fascinated about this particular verse, and it was quoted by one of our blessed Nigerian politician. Yes, the devil himself can quote bible! Anyone can quote the bible, if he has a reason for that.
I don’t know the particular year the politician quoted this; though, it was quoted by Festus Okotie Eboh (1919-1966).  I don’t know why he quoted this, but many people accused him of being corrupt, so probably, it was his way of defending himself against the accusations. Doesn’t that sound nice? Trying to defend yourself against corruption accusation with a quote from the Holy Bible. And this man was one of the most corrupt politicians in the first republic; he was a British stooge, he flaunted his ill gotten wealth in front of all, he lived a lavish lifestyle and openly practiced and supported corruption. And he gave this bible quote to top it all. What a great a soul he is!
Now look at it, has anything changed since this man was killed? He was killed because of his corrupt practices, along with the other politicians. For me, nothing has changed; we Nigerians are still singing the same song that our fore-fathers sang then. Corruption. Corruption. Not even EFCC or ICPC could do anything to save the situation. The EFCC and ICPC are corrupt themselves, so who is fooling who?
People recycle themselves in power, the same set of people who have nothing to offer anybody. We see them, we know them, we follow them, we vote them, and we know they dupe us, who cares anyway? When you weren’t born to die for anybody or Nigeria, so why should you care? Nigeria can remain as it is, you don’t care, when you reach there you will also eat your own. So let the corruption, backwardness, bad name and poor infrastructures keep recycling itself. Since our fathers said it shall not be well with us, so shall it be.
We have brilliant and hard working doctors, but yet, when President Jonah wanted to have a medical check up, he travelled all the way to Germany, with the presidential fleet of jets and aides. What of IBB? Old as he is, his life is so important to him that he couldn’t even to go any hospital here that he watched deteriorate as a president, he also travelled all the way to Germany. Patience nko? And also the great Dora who could not be treated here in Nigeria, she had to go to India.
What of education? What of our electricity? What of the basic infrastructures that we need? Corruption keeps recycling itself. If you didn’t know corruption will not leave us, well I have to tell you, now you know! When a president of a country can boldly say Stealing is not Corruption, then you should know that the country has been damned forever.
