How to Preserve Ginger

a native of Asia, Ginger grows well in the tropical countries of the world.
Ginger is widely cultivated in Nigeria and Sierra Leone. It is also cultivated
in China and Jamaica. It is called sheng
jian in China.
In Nigeria, Ginger is most at times used for
cooking, but it is also used by herbalists who use it to cure illnesses. Ginger
can last for as long as one year if it is well preserved. Ginger is readily
available anywhere you go to, but not many people know that it can be preserved
for up to a year!
The fresh Ginger can last up to two months if it is
kept in the refrigerator. The dried one in powder form can last up to two
years. However, it is not advisable to store Ginger in the refrigerator; it is
better to dry it and ground it into powder form. Most people use the powder
form to season their food.
Ginger is rich in carbohydrates, proteins, minerals,
vitamins and a whole lot of other nutrients. Ginger also cures fever, jaundice,
cough, high blood pressure, cough, sore throat, stroke and cancer.
