Most Popular Nigerians in the Year, 2015
This year has not come to an end, but there are not
much days left for this year to pack up and die. The management of Better Times
blog has decided to compile the list of the top ten most popular Nigerians in
this current year that will soon expire. The reader of this article and list
should know that this list solely belongs to the blog and is the blog’s
knowledge of the happenings and events of this year.
2015 will always be remembered for years to come.
History was made in Nigeria, and indeed, Africa. It had its ugly side and the
beautiful side. Nigerians witnessed what they had never witnessed before, and
there have been the very ugly sides.
These men and women on this list are here because of
the popularity their doings or scandals evoked in the country. Few of them had
scandals, others achieved something worthwhile. A reader should note that he is
not subjected to believe in this list.
10. Orji Uzor Kalu
He is a wealthy man and a politician from the South
East, Nigeria. He had served as the executive governor of Abia State. He had
been in the news for a long time because of the interest he had in the race for
the FIFA President. He was also chosen as the chairman of the world ship
owner’s association. He dropped his bid for the FIFA President.
9. Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka
He is a reverend father: a clergy. He is the
director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Nigeria. He made headlines and received
criticism because of his stance on the failed re-election bid of Ex-president
Jonathan. He has remained popular since then. His stance on the issue of Biafra
also made him popular. He is in a good relationship with his state governor and
the presidency.
8. Linda Ikeji
She is a professional blogger and an entrepreneur.
She is the CEO of Linda Ikeji’s blog. Her blog is one of the three most visited
Nigerian websites. She made headline when she purchased a massive and expensive
mansion in Banana Island. In fact, most bloggers are in blogging because of her
success.
7. Diezani Alison-Madueke
She was the minister of petroleum during the
Ex-president’s tenure. Most Nigerians believe she is corrupt and that she
catered away a lot of Nigerian’s public money. She made headlines when it was
reported that her residence in London and Abuja were searched, and that her
mother and one other woman appeared in a British court. She was the topic for
over two months. She sought sympathy with the use of her supposed illness. She
has not been prosecuted.
6. Babatunde Fashola
He is the immediate past governor of Lagos State. He
is a member of the political party, APC. He was the topic when it was rumored
that he was among the ministers that would be appointed by Buhari. He was also
the topic when the excessive spending of Lagos State’s resources was exposed.
He was the topic when he was given three-in-one ministerial position, the
highest in Buhari’s cabinet.
5. Nnamdi Kanu
He is the founder of the pirate radio, Radio Biafra.
He lives outside the country. He visited Nigeria, and he was arrested by the
Federal Government. He has been in detention since then. His detention has
sparked Pro-Biafra protests and rally across the former Eastern region of
Nigeria. His detention has renewed the spirit of the want of Biafra, and his
detention has led to online debate and tribalism on the social networks.
4. Bukola Saraki
He is the current senate president of Nigeria. He
got to the seat of the senate president by the help of PDP senators. And
because of his flouting of the party’s rules, he had problem with his party. The
CCT are still trying to prosecute him for false declaration of assets. He has
been the topic since then.
3. Chibuike Amechi
He is the immediate past governor of Rivers State.
He is a member of the political party, APC. He has been the topic since the beginning
of this year and prior to this year. He had issues with the Ex-president. One
of the hottest parts of this year’s politics was when Amechi’s name was rumored
to be on Buhari’s list of ministers. His administration was probed by the River
State Government and it was found that he mismanaged his state’s resources, but
the issue was swept under the carpet. He was made a minister through
undemocratic means.
2. Goodluck Jonathan
He is the immediate past president of Nigeria. He
made the headlines through out this year. So many corruption scandals are
attached to his name in the media. Since he left the seat of the president, the
media has still not left him. He is respected for his democratic ideology and
his concession in the first quarter of the year.

Buhari
He is the current
president of Nigeria. He made the headlines through out this year. He is sort
of a “celebrity” more than a president. His campaign was carried into the most
interior of all Nigerian villages. He is respected and popular among Nigerians.
His incorruptibility helped him beat the ruling party. However, he has come
under criticism as of recent, because of his non-fulfillment of most of his
campaign promises.
