Ms. Maduafokwa, the Highest in UTME/JAMB 2020, awarded 16 million naira

The UTME exam is an exam done annually for those who wish to get admitted into the tertiary institutions, ranging from the Universities to the colleges of education. Every year it has been carried out except in 1996 when most of the universities in Nigeria were on strike. And to gainfully get admission is to score high in the exam and do well in the different screening processes of different schools. To get admitted into a tertiary institution, one must first of all pass the exam and with a very good score, at least.

In this year, 2020, the registration was done in a fast way and then the examination held in March in a hurdle free process. Soon enough, the results were released before the outbreak of Coronavirus and the halt of all educational processes. A little after this, the JAMB body met to deliberate on the cut off mark and look at the general performance. It was at this point that the top 13 candidates in the examination were discovered.

The top 13 candidates were all from the Engineering faculty, choosing different Engineering disciplines. There were 3 girls and 10 boys. At the top of the ladder was Ms. Egoagwuagwu Agnes Maduafokwa. She is currently a student of Louisville Girls High School, Ijebu Itele. She scored a whooping mark of 365, hitting 99 in both Physics and Mathematics.

A commenter stated that her termly school fees is about 1 million naira and the pass mark of her school every term is 65. In her school, to make an A is to get around 95, crazy right? Maybe or maybe not. Her school has set such a standard that their students excel very well in national exams, like half of the current students in SS3 made at least 300 in the 2020 JAMB.
Moving on from that, the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) discovered that most of the top students in the UTME chose Engineering and decided to award a prize to the highest. This is how Ms. Maduafokwa was awarded a 16 Million Naira prize. A tremendous amount enough to train her in any university in Nigeria and start up an Engineering firm.
We wish her well.
