The Female Achiever and Scientist: Marie Curie
When the world scientist comes up, names like Albert Einstein will come to our
mind. Yes, this name belongs to a dead scientist, believed to be one of the
most intelligent men to have ever lived. He is the brain behind the formula
E=mc(square). This post is not about Einstein, this post is about Marie Curie,
the best female scientist ever.
Marie Curie was born a Russian in the
present day country, Poland. That time, Poland was being governed and ruled by Russia.
Her father was a teacher, and it was her father who introduced her to the
science line by teaching her some basic things about scientific research. She focused
on the fields of Physics and Chemistry, and she won the Nobel Prize in Physics
and Chemistry. She is known for radioactivity,
polonium and radium.
She married a fellow scientist, and
they won Nobel Prize together before his death. She discovered a radioactive element.
They had two children who were girls. One of their children became a scientist
who also won the Nobel Prize. Marie Curie won so many other awards. She was
highly respected across the globe, in fact, she once visited the president of
America in the white house.
She worked extensively during the
WWI. She innovated new ways of treatment, and some scholars argue that she also
contributed to the field of medicine. She was a nationalist; she believed so
much in her country, and did all she had to do for her country.
She died a fulfilled woman, but she
was killed by her achievement—radioactivity.
