An Unfamiliar Skin Disease: Shingles
Shingles is a painful
skin rash. It is a viral skin disease. It is caused by the varicella zoster Virus. It occurs in a group at one side of the
body, and it is often made up of blisters filled with fluid. When pressure is
applied to the affected area, it hurts the victim.
Shingles is common in
adults and people who have low immune system because of stress, injury and
malnutrition.
When a victim has a
medical record of chicken pox, the disease remains dormant in the sufferer’s
body and surfaces if the immune system is weakened in form of shingles.
Shingles is a communicable disease.
Symptoms of shingles
include: headache, fever, one feels like he has flu, itching, tingling, rash
and pain in the area. There are no certain drugs that can cure shingles, though
there are some that puts them under control and fight the illnesses and pain it
causes. Shingles heal and go away in four weeks, sometimes, they leave scars.
