Meet the Nigeria’s Finance Minister – Kemi Adeosun
Kemi Adeosun is the current minister of finance in Nigeria.
She is a chartered accountant with good repute. She hails from Ogun State, but
she was born in London in 1967. She grew up in London, and she worked in London
prior to the time she was appointed as the commissioner of finance in Ogun
State, Nigeria.
She was born in London to Nigerian parents. She has
a degree in Economics from the University of East London. She also has a
postgraduate diploma in Public Finance Management from University of London.
She practiced her profession in different
organizations from 1994 to 2011 before she was appointed as the commissioner of
finance in Ogun State. From there, she was appointed by the Buhari’s government
to serve as the minister of finance. She assumed office as the Minister of
Finance on 11 November, 2015.
She got her job at a very critical time when the
price of crude oil had dropped drastically, and this crude oil is the mainstay
of Nigeria. Some Nigerians are already calling for her resignation
notwithstanding that she hasn’t stayed long in the office. These Nigerians give
the excuse that she cannot come up with an idea that would salvage Nigerian’s
economy and save it from eminent doom.
However, she needs time, and she may deliver if
given the time. She might do wonders with the economy if things stabilize. She is
a rising economist, who can go places, if she serves well in her capacity as
the minister of finance.
