Selling e-books as a blogger: How Profitable is it?
Today, the online community has taken over from the
physical community. Now, most actions performed physically can now be performed
online. An individual can buy, sell any goods online, he can apply for a job,
have an interview and even work online, one can order food online, one can
study online, one can chat with friends … the benefits of the internet is
innumerable.
One of the benefits of internet is blogging.
Blogging is the process of having a personal website that one post write-up,
image or video. This website belongs solely to a person, who might want to
include other helping hands. Most people are into blogging these days,
including I. Most bloggers also want to make money from their blogs, but they
find out that it is not that easy to make a considerable amount of money from
their blogs.
There are ways through which bloggers make money:
ads, sponsored posts, referral links, marketing, products promotion, e-book
selling and so more. We are concerned with e-book selling. E-book is a book
that can be downloaded or purchased online. Most bloggers write e-book in their
area of expertise, market them on their blogs and sell them to their
subscribers. Since ad rates are low, and hardly do subscribers click on the
ads, some bloggers prefer writing e-books on interesting topics, which may sell
like hotcakes.
Every serious blogger is a writer, so writing an
e-book isn’t that difficult. However, the disadvantage of this is that much
time might be invested in the e-book and it ends up unsold. And there are so
many e-books on the same topics, even ones for free, so how would the blogger
be able to convince the readers to buy. Another issue is that people who work
or go to school might find it hard allotting time for the writing of the
e-books.
So, is e-book writing and selling really necessary
or important if a blogger wants to make money through writing? Or is ads and
other methods better?
